Throughout COP26, our own Peter Willis will be talking to thought leaders about climate resilience in this daily video-podcast, hosted by the COP Resilience Hub.
In the third episode, Peter talks to Prof Johan Rockström, Joint Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
Prof Johan Rockström talks with Peter Willis about the two fundamental understandings of resilience that we are required to integrate if we are to reduce the greatest threats from climate change. He focuses particularly on the critical importance of the earth’s buffering systems, which have afforded us all considerable protection from the damages that rising temperatures could already have brought us. We absolutely have to strengthen these systems if that quiet, often invisible protection is to be extended and not switched off.
