Ruth Boumphrey, Director of Research, Lloyd’s Register Foundation, recently launched the new Chinese translation of the Foresight Review of Resilience Engineering.

This is the original research work, commissioned by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, that stimulated the creation of the Resilience Shift programme. Ruth is on the Board of the Resilience Shift.

As part of Ruth’s visit to three cities in China, she delivered a talk at the 9th China International Forum on work safety, which took place in Hangzhou. To support the talk, two of the Foundation’s Foresight Reviews, including the Resilience Engineering report, were translated into Chinese.

In addition, Ruth visited the Foundation’s consortium led by Ethan Ge (pictured with some of his students) at Shanghai Maritime University. She also met with the Chinese Vice Minister for Work Safety and was interviewed for Chinese State TV (see picture), with her presentation attracting much interest from the local audience.

Ruth said: “Lots of photos were taken of my slide of the Resilience Shift so I am hoping you will see a flurry of hits from the PRC on your web analytics!”  As a global programme, we aim to reach worldwide audiences relevant to critical infrastructure resilience so it’s great to be growing awareness of our programme in China.
