Operational Resilience: A guide for non-executive directors

Our strategic partner, Resilience First, has released a new resource on ‘Operational Resilience – A guide for non-executive directors’, published in partnership with Pool Re.

This new publication is part of a suite of tools designed to help non-executive directors (NEDs) channel their own insights and experiences on operational resilience and make timely and constructive challenges in boardrooms.

It is important that NEDs can contribute fully to the resilience of their organisations and understand what specific measures are being undertaken to ensure preparedness, long-term resilience, and sustainability. Boards and NEDs play a key role in setting the tone and creating a culture that enables operational resilience to be at the heart of their discussions.

The guide includes five key principles that are central to the success of NEDs in championing operational resilience. These are:

  • Vision
  • Situational awareness
  • Stewardship
  • Agility
  • Culture

The paper includes contributions from experts at the National Preparedness Commission, Arup, and EY, among others, and is complemented by a webinar that was hosted by Resilience First and Pool Re on 1 July that explored the same topic.

The full guide can be downloaded here.
