Infrastructure Sustainability Annual Conference 2018
16 October, 2018–18 October, 2018
Rob Turk, Project Leader Resilience Shift, will be attending ISCA 2018. Organised by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA), the event aims to explore recent trends and emerging topics in Australasia’s infrastructure, interact, discuss and dissect details of current sustainable projects, facilitate networking between the continent’s IS community, and create an environment for learning, inspiration and knowledge sharing. This year’s ISCA conference theme is ‘Accelerating positive change for people and planet’. This aligns closely with our own aim for a safer and better world through resilient infrastructure.
The focus is generally on understanding best practice across infrastructure sustainability, including resilience, with content and case studies presented. The main focus from a Resilience Shift perspective is the Resilience and Climate Risk session where there will be presentations from Cardno, AECOM, NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and Jacobs. For the Resilience Shift it will be an understanding of how resilience in infrastructure design, construction and operation is being embedded. This aligns with all three aims of The Resilience Shift. On a more general level there’s a continued reinforcement of the acceptance of the IS rating scheme as a mandatory requirement for critical infrastructure projects in Australia and in turn a mechanism by which concepts such as resilience can be progressed.
The Resilience and Climate Risk session is on 17 October at 1.30pm Sydney time.
