Earth Ex: planning for global scale complex catastrophe (Glasgow)

4 March, 2019

As part of our work on ‘Electricity sector and interdependencies’, we propose to implement EARTH EX sector exercises, allowing critical infrastructure players to improve their planning to black sky events by adopting systems thinking, cross-sectorial approaches.

We will initially host two EARTH EX resilience exercises in the UK (London, 28th February and Glasgow, 4th March), a locally facilitated, “come as you are” exercise, helping corporate and government teams, community leaders, individuals and families anywhere in the world build interconnected resilience planning to sustain our future.

The results of these exercises will be used to iteratively formulate materials for a coordinated, multi-sector resilience planning series for different countries (UK initially) in future phases.

We expect that direct beneficiaries from our work will be, on one hand, government agencies that have a key role in both UK and multinational advance planning and real time coordination, as well as a role in development of critical all-hazard tools. On the other hand, we are also aiming to get corporations on board, including those directly providing critical infrastructure services, and those whose supplies and services are essential to the functionality of infrastructure providers.
